I do not need a "relationship" every @#$%ing time I do something on the web. I want to buy widget A, not give you every detail of my life and watch videos of your children eating birthday cake.

I do not need a custom "Download Manager" for every @#$%ing website I visit (Sun, Amazon), I have been downloading in some fashion since before your company existed (disclaimer, Sun existed in 1982, I've been downloading AS LONG as they have existed).

I do not need Microsoft Security (oxymoron). Don't reenable your suck firewall every time I run an update. It didn't help me when I turned it off, it won't help me now.

Don't run production work in your development environment or your may get responses like this: Sorry, the system is hung. No, it's a development server, there's no support after 5:00 PM. We have a four hour response contract and they get in at 8:00 AM so we should have a tech on site by noon.

that drives backwards up the off ramp because they didn't know about the traffic jam until they'd already made the exit.

Yea, that was me.

Sorry.

Ok, I'm a geek, I admit it. But I don't recall EVER hearing about this:
http://www.amazon.com/STARLOST-Complete-Keir-Dullea/dp/B001DW2BG0/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1219064795&sr=8-1

has anyone out there seen any of Starlost? Was it good? How did I miss it?

Hi, I hope everyone had a good holiday weekend.

I know one person that didn't, she called me (caller ID did not identify her) and asked me for money.

I told her to go home and spend time with her family. The second to last thing I need on a long holiday weekend is someone interrupting my time with my family to ask for money (the last thing is elective surgery).

If the cause is really that important then the call can wait until Tuesday, if it can't wait then call 911, not me.

but I don't recall EVER hearing anything about Splendid China:

Has ANYONE reading this blog ever heard about it before?

The presidential race started almost as soon as the last election ended. Way to early for me.

None of the candidates are particularly inspiring and I really don't want to think about the election for the next year. I would kind of like to live my life for a while.

Here's a nifty little web site that takes all the thinking out of the process and tells me which candidates agree with my positions: http://www.boingboing.net/2007/08/06/chart_of_presidentia.html

There will be plenty of time to run down the opposing candidate after the primaries, but is there any candidate out there right now that you are excited about? or are you like me and wish they would all shut up and go away for a while?

It seems that WMD's have been found in Iraq, after all.

One bullet point on a fax isn't much in the way of "poof," but this is the first time I can recall that anyone has announced that WMD have actually been found.

It seems that the mainland Chinese are recreating U.S. communities wholesale.

Of all the cultural elements I expected the U.S. to export to China, neighborhoods was not on the list. Now some enterprising developer needs to start exporting small towns for less well-to-do families the way that expensive gated communities are being exported for wealthy Chinese.

Can you imagine your home town, building for building (idealized and stylized) in mainland China. THinking about it makes me smile!
